Natalia Vodianova’s Benefit to Auction Off Her Portrait by David Datuna
The proceeds will benefit the supermodel’s Naked Heart Foundation.

On February 11th Natalia Vodianova’s Naked Heart Foundation benefit in Moscow will feature artwork by American artist David Datuna titled “Vodianova – Love of Millions.”
The artwork, assembled in Datuna’s distinctive fashion of cascading optical lenses, features a portrait of Natalia Vodianova created from a background pattern of thousands of miniature images of Robert Indiana’s iconic LOVE sculpture.  The opening bid for the portrait is set at $100,000.
Created in collaboration with Alex Guofeng Cao, the portrait was donated to the auction by the artist himself with the support of the New York-based Global Art Group and Kyiv’s Mironova International Art Group.
“Vodianova – Love of Millions” is the first work in Datuna’s upcoming series “Fashion Rules the World,” scheduled to be unveiled for the 2013 Fashion Week in New York. The project will show the connections and differences between the world of high fashion, art and the reality of everyday life. It will focus on the influence of art and fashion on the conscious and the subconscious on the minds of mankind.
“I am inspired and amazed by Natalia’s charitable involvement,” said David Datuna. “Despite her supermodel status, she found the time and compassion to focus on one of the most important issues of the day – children. I am honored to contribute to her full-time job of being an Angel to those children. To me Natalia epitomizes love, so using thousands of LOVEs in her portrait imbues the inner-world of this strong and beautiful woman.”
2012 will mark the second year that the works of David Datuna appear at Natalia Vodianova’s benefit. In 2011 his installation “Chaotic Past” was sold for 80,000 Euro.
In recent years, Datuna’s works have been critically acclaimed among collectors and art lovers around the world.  His “Steve Jobs-Ayn Rand” portrait, unveiled at SCOPE Miami, was sold to a private collector for $210,000. Earlier in 2011, Datuna’s “Putin-Mona Lisa” portrait of Russia’s Prime Minister triggered a bidding war at ART MOSCOW, selling for 200,000 Euro – more than double of the asking price.
This year the annual event for the Naked Heart Foundation will take place in Moscow on the eve of St. Valentine’s Day. The Gala will bring together over 300 friends and supporters of the Foundation. The Charitable Auction will be hosted by world-renowned auction house Philips de Pury & Company. Among donated items are the works of contemporary artists from Russia, England and the United States. All proceeds from the evening will support Natalia Vodianova’s foundation.
